Ute Reservoir

Ute Reservoir held 188,400 acre-feet on Nov 4, 2026. It has no capacity figure we can check, so we show acre-feet only.

A storage reservoir: it holds water for later release. On Canadian River. Canadian basin.

Up 4,274acre-feet over 30 days

For these reservoirs the only capacity figure is the owner's own estimate of normal storage, which has not been corrected for sediment and was not checked against the operator's measurements. We show how much water they hold, in acre-feet, and no percent.

About this reservoir

Owned by the New Mexico Interstate Stream Commission, completed in 1963 near Logan. It is intended as the source for the Eastern New Mexico Rural Water System and is otherwise used for recreation.

How to use these numbers

  • Eastern New Mexico's future supply. Storage is the supply banked for the rural water system.
  • Canadian River below Conchas. Changes in storage integrate runoff and releases from upstream.

Read before quoting a number

  • Storage only: the archive has no usable elevation series for Ute, so its capacity table cannot be validated or its vintages identified. Percentages use the owner-reported normal storage and can exceed 100%.
  • An operator table from 2023 exists in CWMS. An elevation series would move Ute to the fully validated tier.

How capacity is known

The only capacity figure is the owner-reported normal storage, 222,500 acre-feet. National Inventory of Dams normal storage (owner-reported, not sediment-corrected) Because it is not an operator's measured table, we show water held in acre-feet and no percent.
